How to Turn 3-Month IEP Goals into Daily Classroom Strategies
A term goal such as 'requests a break using a visual card in 4 out of 5 opportunities' is only useful if it shows up in daily routines. Start from the baseline and plan small, observable steps.
Plan the steps
Split the goal into weekly targets, fade prompts from full physical to verbal to none, and pick reinforcers the child actually enjoys.
Record progress
Use a 1–10 performance rating with the prompt level used. Dated check-ins show whether a child is developing, approaching or mastering a goal.
Share with families
When parents see the same goal and the same scale, practice at home matches practice at school.
